The spring air is approaching. This makes it a good time to celebrate all that is fresh and new in Edmonton.
Edmonton’s bar and restaurant scene seems to always have something new to offer, this coming spring included. Some of these new restaurants recently celebrated a grand opening, while the rest will open to the public in March.
And what’s on the menus? A huge variety of cuisine! Edmonton’s new restaurants in March include tiki bars (yes, more than one!), Caribbean cuisines like jerk chicken, Vietnamese street food, and much more.
The Lunchbox
This March, downtown Edmonton will welcome a new diner worktime lunches, tasty dinners, and quick snacks. The Lunchbox will offer café style beverages, sides and snacks, and a list of stacked sandwiches. Their Instagram advertises “The Jimmy,” a breakfast sandwich, so this could be your next local breakfast spot too.

Honi Honi Tiki Lounge
As you try your cocktails at downtown’s new Honi Honi Tiki Lounge, take notice of the décor. Honi Honi is decorated with a large assortment of tiki memorabilia and art, including some special pieces from Edmonton’s original tiki lounge: The Beachcomber. The lounge offers a food menu as well with bar snacks.

Chai Chill & Grill Café
Take a moment to relax, a moment to indulge, or a moment to yourself at this new local café. Edmonton’s Chai Chill & Grill Café offers a cozy and a relaxing space for enjoying a cup of coffee, and a variety of sweets on the menu to pair with your chai. Their Indian inspired menu of lunch and dinner items are a healthy option for any time of the day. And many of their items can be swapped for dairy-free, gluten-free, or vegan ingredients.

The Boiler Room
The building for The Boiler Room is not new, but the concept behind this new Edmonton bar sure is! The Boiler Room is underneath Fox Burger (in the basement), and offers a cozy, speakeasy vibe for a night of food and drink with friends. At the centre of the room is the building’s original (non-operational) cast iron boiler.

PhatBar Bakery & Café
The fun and colourful menu items from Edmonton’s new PhatBar Bakery & Café are as photo-worthy as they are delicious. The café menu items consist of bakery treats with a unique twist. This includes their signature Phat Tarts, an assortment of cakes and pies, cookies, and more.

Mai mai Vietnamese Street Kitchen
Mai Mai have been open in Edmonton for a month now, and are making a name for themselves for their delicious Vietnamese street food. And, you can enjoy it all in their hip dining room, or as take-out. Some items to order from the Vietnamese Street Kitchen include banh mi, vermicelli dishes, spring rolls, salad rolls, and more.

Jamaican Jerk Shak
It is great to see a local Edmonton food shop opening in any mall food court, especially one with as much traffic as West Edmonton Mall. You can find Jamaican Jerk Shak is the mall’s phase 3 food court, where they serve a simple menu bursting with tons of Caribbean flavours.

Chicken Chemistry
Attention all fried chicken lovers! Chicken Chemistry is now open in south Edmonton with a menu filled with variety. For fried chicken, you can have it fried five different ways. And you can order a lot more than chicken. Chicken Chemistry also serve up burgers, poutines, meat skewers, paneer substitutions, and a selection of Indian cuisine.

Sauce Modern Caribbean Cuisine
This new north Edmonton restaurant has all the boxes checked for a great date night spot, family dinner, or celebration cocktails. Sauce Moder Caribbean Cuisine offer a warm and comfortable dining room in which to enjoy their large food and drink menus. These include savoury starters, filling Caribbean entrees, desserts, and signature cocktails.

Tiki Tiki on Whyte
This spring, Tiki will be one of the newest additions to Whyte Avenue’s restaurant scene. And as you may have guessed, there will be a tiki bar vibe at Tiki on Whyte! The restaurant opening offers more to look forward to as well like their Polynesian and gastropub fusion food. And, what we can only expect will be a refreshing list of tiki bar cocktails.
