Start off 2023 by celebrating all that is new in Edmonton.
We specifically mean all the new restaurants and food in Edmonton. It was a busy winter so far for restaurant, café, and pub openings around the city. And with that busy season of grand openings, Edmonton received places to try all different types of cuisine.
These new restaurants in Edmonton give you the option of anything from casual to gourmet experiences. These are some of Edmonton’s newest and best places to eat, drink, and to be merry in the New Year.
The Varsity
Edmonton’s Varsity Kitchen & Bar is the city’s newest family restaurant. They offer simple and high-quality pub-style foods, making it a perfect place to treat a date, your kids, or the whole family. There is a lot for the younger crowd to get excited about on their menu, too, like ice cream milkshakes, and a long list of pint-sized meal options. Adults have a lot to look forward to about The Varsity’s opening, too. Try out their BIG Onion, a full pound of fries, or their gourmet burgers.

Banh Mi Day
The day may call for Banh Mi, but the menu at Banh Mi Day will give you selections for much more in a meal. Their Vietnamese dishes include meat and vegetarian options for snacks and appetizers, and a wide selection of pho. Banh Mi Day also offer vegan pho, vegan rice or noodles, and a vegan banh mi.

French Toast
French Toast may have you thinking of the tasty brunch treat. But this new Edmonton restaurant is all about celebrating the best of French cuisine. You can try their French pastries and other goodies as a breakfast buffet meal which includes sweet and savoury items. French Toast also has a regular set menu of mouth-watering breakfast plates.

K-PAPA
The family-owned K-PAPA restaurant in Edmonton started a few years ago in the H-Mart Food Court. And as of December 2022, K-PAPA now offer their Korean cuisine from a new south Edmonton stand-alone location. It is fitting that they opened this new spot over the winter, as their menu is filled with an array of tasty comfort foods. Warm up with a bowl of soup or stew, snack on hot or cold appetizers, or enjoy a Soju cocktail.

Leopard
Leopard in central Edmonton may be your new place for pizza. Leopard is new, in general, to the city, and offer a newer take on classic pizza. Their crust is all sourdough, creating a light and fluffy base for their gourmet toppings. Their pizzas are best enjoyed with a side of homemade dipping sauces such as buttermilk ranch, chili crisp, or roasted red pepper and eggplant.

Chi & Em Asian Bistro
Chi & Em Asian Bistro has only served Edmontonians for less than a month. And in that time, the restaurant has gained significant attention for their great food and atmosphere. That great food is a nutritious option best shared with friends and family. They take traditional Asian dishes and add their own signature flair to each. Examples of their more unique dishes include a Carpaccio Trio of meats, a Grilled Pork Sausage Bowl, or their Sai Gon salad rolls.

ZULA Kitchen & Wine Bar
ZULA is Edmonton newest premiere gourmet dining option. This may make a perfect next date night out, too. ZULA Kitchen & Wine Bar in the Glenora neighbourhood have a large menu of appetizers, salads, mains, and prime cuts. Those prime cuts include AAA filet mignon, AAA ribeye, or marinated pork tenderloin.

Taco Delhi
Taco Delhi is celebrating one month of servicng Edmonton their authentic Indian and Latin inspired dishes. The main stars of their menu are Taco Delhi’s roti or naan tacos, burritos, and bowls. Once you decide how you’ll enjoy your food, you can build it to your liking with their assortment of proteins, combo sides, and appetizers like wings or fries.

Asymmetrical Brewing
Edmonton can say hello to new food and new brews from Asymmetrical Brewing. The northside microbrewery offer a unique selection of pub eats like charcuterie, pickled blueberries, and delicious handhelds. Visit Asummetrical to learn more about their selection of craft beers and sodas. You’ll find hazy, dark, pale, cream, and blonde on the menu.

Rhubarb Café & Cocktails
Rhubarb is so new to Edmonton that their website is not even finished yet. Until then, you’ll need to visit them in Manchester Square to get a feel for their craft drink menu. They specialize in coffee and café drinks, craft cocktails, sweet snacks, and will feature live music.
