Here are 8 things to do when you visit Scenic Caves during the summer:
1. Caves & Caverns
Explore a self-guided trail of caves, caverns and crevasses carved millions of years ago by glacial ice, and savour the breathtaking lookouts from the highest point of the Niagara Escarpment, set in one of Canada’s eighteen UNESCO biosphere reserves. These natural caves and caverns were once the home of the Petun First Nations people. These historic caves are surrounded by an incredibly breathtaking forest that is nearly 200 years old!
2. Hike! Hike! Hike!
The Hiking Trail Centre, with 15 kilometres of self-guided trails, offers a unique opportunity to explore 370 acres of stunning landscape. This landscape includes caves and caverns that are 70 feet below the surface! The trails are marked with signs as easy, intermediate, and advanced based on distance and difficulty level. However, the staff is present along the trail to assist hikers on their journey. The trail features 17 unique geological features and amazing views of Georgian Bay, making it great for pictures.
3. The Suspension Bridge

The suspension bridge is the longest in southern Ontario, with a length of 420 feet. A walking trail leads to the bridge or if you’re too tired to walk, you can get a tractor or wagon ride to it.
The bridge is suspended 82 feet above the ground, and if you’re afraid of heights, don’t worry because the bridge is completely safe to walk on and even has a chain link fence on either side. Besides, you won’t be too busy focusing on its height when you’re surrounded by the most jaw-dropping views of the stunning green forest below and all of the south Georgian Bay.

4. Gemstone Mining
This is a great activity for the entire family, especially for kids, and it only takes 30 minutes! It is a great educational experience as it allows you to discover minerals such as gold ore, crystals and fossils in the same way that early miners did.
A bag containing sand and gemstones is provided and gemstones are discovered through panning at the water trough. Each bag is guaranteed to provide great artifacts and gemstones.
The Gemstone mining adventure is located at the main entrance and must be purchased for all ages at $10.60 (plus HST) per person.
5. Fish Pond and Picnic Area
The picnic area surrounds the pond that contains rainbow and speckled brook trout. This area is a great spot to sit with your family and friends and enjoy the view.
Fishing is prohibited, but you can feed the fish with fish food that will be provided to you at 25 cents per portion.
6. Mini Golf
Their 18-hole mini golf course with built-in obstacles is a fun activity for the whole family. It includes a well-maintained golf course surrounded by lush green trees, making the experience more relaxing. You can play at your own pace, and it only costs $7 (plus HST) for all ages.
7. Children’s Adventure Playground
They have two playgrounds: one for kids aged 2-5 and the other for kids aged 5-12. Both playgrounds are safe and contain features such as a miniature suspension bridge, a geometric structure made of ropes, and many other features for kids to enjoy.
8. Choose Your Ride
Rocky The Train: Explore the grounds of Scenic Caves aboard an electric train resembling an authentic 19th-century locomotive complete with bells, steam whistles and a caboose. Grab some snapshots of the features you’ll pass – wooden lifelike carvings, railway crossings, the tunnel and more – while the Train Conductor regales you with stories along the way.
