Things to Do to Celebrate 109th Grey Cup Week in Regina

Winnipeg Blue Bombers take on Toronto Argonauts during Canada’s most iconic sporting event, the 109th Grey Cup, which is happening on Sunday, November 20th at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium.

The Grey Cup Festival

The City of Regina and Saskatchewan Roughriders are throwing a party for all the fans and here are 18 things you can look forward to during the Grey Cup Festival Week.

  • Sirius XM Kick-Off Party – Welcome the Championship trophy to Regina and officially launch the 2022 Grey Cup Festival at the Sirius XM Kick-Off Party on Wednesday, November 16th at 5 p.m. Taking place at the International Trade Centre, this all-ages free event will be headlined by Juno-Award-winning Colin James.
  • Digital Zone – This is a fun interactive area where fans can challenge fellow fans in video games. Enjoy various sports experiences including posing at the virtual photo booth, or take part in a virtual field goal-kicking competition. This free area will be open at the International Trade Centre from November 16 to 19th.
 
  • NextGen Energy Street Festival – Confederation Park will transform into a giant outdoor playground for three days from November 17 to 19, 11:00 am – 9:00 pm. The park will be the hub for a variety of family-friendly activities including football skills games, light-up seesaws, light shows, warm-up stations, tube slides, games and more.
  • Drone Show – See the largest drone show ever flown in Canada nightly during NextGen Energy Street Festival from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The night sky will be illuminated by 300 drones working in formation to create a story with spectacular visuals and sounds!

  • eSports Showcase & Path to Glory tournament – The world of esports will open up on Thursday, November 17th at the Brandt Centre. This will be the perfect opportunity for festival-goers to learn all about esports. On November 18 and 19, over 200 professional gamers will compete for the $50,000 prize pool for the Super Smash Brothers Ultimate tournament.
  • SaskPower Family Fair – Be it young or old, it’s all about having fun! At this free indoor area, located at AffinityPlex, you can slide, jump or bounce on large inflatable obstacles. An extension of the SaskPower Family Fair, Huddle in the Heartland is for youth aged 5 to 12. Here, various interactive programming will focus on growing the game of football through drills, setups, interactive skills competitions and so forth.
  • Gainer’s Heartland – Be transported to the heart of Saskatchewan! Located at Ag-Ex Building, this family-friendly indoor space will feature stunning landscapes, fun activities, local food vendors, indigenous artifacts and more. Capture a 2022 Grey Cup Festival photo at the Tourism Saskatchewan photo booth while wearing a free Grey Cup Festival scarf. Gainer’s Heartland will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., November 17 to 19.
  • CFL Awards – The CFL Award night will happen on Thursday, November 17th at the Conexus Arts Centre. Hosted by TSN’s Kate Beirness, this star-studded awards ceremony will honour CFL’s brightest stars, and celebrate the season’s top performers, as well as influential women who have played a significant role in impacting football across Saskatchewan.
  • The Legends Luncheon – Rub shoulders with CFL Alumni and listen to their incredible stories on Friday, November 18th at the Queensbury Convention Centre. The Alumnus of the Year Award and the Indigenous Champion Award will be presented at this fan-favourite event. Tickets priced at $157 will include a meal, silent auction, live auction, and heads-or-tails fundraiser.
 
  • Pancake Breakfast – Drop by on November 18th and 19th at Confederation Park between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for a free pancake breakfast by Calgary Grey Cup Committee.
  • Stage of the League Address – At the Commissioner’s Fan State of the League address, Commissioner Ambrosie will provide an update on the direction of the league and take questions from members of the audience. The first 500 fans to arrive will receive a complimentary replica of the coin used for 109th Grey Cup Coin Toss! This free event will take place on Friday, November 18th at the International Trade Centre.
  • Canadiana Gala – The Grey Cup Festival Gala will feature a family-style meal and great music. Juno Award-winning country music group, The Road Hammers will take the stage with their new hit single “Back At It.” This ticketed event, priced at $295 will take place at the Queensbury Convention Centre on Saturday, November 19th at 6 p.m.
  • Team Party Rooms – Saskatchewan’s biggest party is on! Get your Team Party Pass and check out eight CFL teams as well as the Atlantic Schooners from November 17 to 19.

  • Touchdown Manitoba – Featuring performances from various cheer teams, pep bands and mascots, Touchdown Manitoba is an event you shouldn’t miss. This ticketed event will take place on November 18 at the Co-operators Centre.
  • Cheer Extravaganza – This family-friendly event will excite and energize you like no other! There will be over 20 performances, and meet and greet with your favourite CFL dance and cheer teams during this exclusive event taking place at the Brandt Centre on November 19th.

  • Fan Zone – Put on your team colours and gather outside Gate 3 of Mosaic Stadium. There will be contests, football-themed activities and free giveaways from league sponsors. This free event will take place on Sunday, November 20th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Outdoor Tailgate – The outdoor tailgate party is a licenced event that will take place at Confederation Park. The tailgate will begin at 12 p.m., running till 5 p.m. Warm up to the big game with live entertainment, food and beverage options, and outdoor fireplaces. Rock group, Toque is will headline the event, with openers The Steadies. The event is free to attend for anyone with a ticket to the Grey Cup game.
  • Indoor Tailgate – Headlined by the popular Hunter Brothers, this ticketed event will take place at the Viterra International Trade Centre on the game day from noon to 5 p.m. Rising country star Sacha will be the special guest. Enjoy live entertainment and great food at this pre-game celebration.
 
  • Music and Entertainment – Real District, the official home of the Grey Cup Party Headquarters, will see many musicians and artists throughout the festival week. Talents, of various genres, from across Saskatchewan will be showcased at the Harvard Media Community Stage. This outdoor stage will be set up at Confederation Park from November 17 to 19 and run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. At 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., there will be a special eight-minute show featuring a light curtain with a simulated aurora-borealis effect. The outdoor stage will kick off on Noon, Thursday, November 17th by Regina roots artist JJ Voss.

Other artists performing during the week are Colin James headlining the SiriusXM Kickoff Party, The Road Hammers at the Canadiana Gala, Toque with openers The Steadies at the Outdoor Tailgate, while Hunter Brothers will take the stage at the Indoor Tailgate.

The music doesn’t end there! Country music stars, Jordan Davis, Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line, and Josh Ross will unite for the Twisted Tea Grey Cup Halftime Show.

  • The Game – The highlight of the week happens on Sunday, November 20th at the Mosaic Stadium at 5 p.m when Toronto Argonauts will take on Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The 109th Grey Cup will also be broadcast nationwide on TSN and RDS.

Getting There:

imageGrey Cup organizers along with Regina Hotel Association are offering a free shuttle to REAL District from all 27 hotels starting on Nov. 17 to Nov. 20. Shuttle service will run every 30 minutes between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. from Nov. 17th to 19th and every 30 minutes between 11 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 20th.
