Each of the 55 non-serviced sites are well treed for added privacy. Located 83 km southwest of Nordegg, this PRA is a bit more off the beaten path than many of the others mentioned. The campground is located on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River and there is a beautiful trail that leads to the most scenic river valley views you will ever encounter. Those who are looking for a quiet and secluded getaway with their loved one will be more than satisfied with their stay at Thompson Creek.
Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area
There is something romantic about water rushing down the side of a mountain. The beauty and awe that it invokes within a person sets the mood unlike anything else. Being able to camp in the Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area means you can have that waterfall romance right where you sleep. With only 29 sites at this campground it never feels overly crowded. Other things to do while in the Crescent Falls area include fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and taking plenty of Instagram worthy pictures.
Cheechako Cabins
Cheechako Cabins are ideal for those couples looking to get away from the crazy world of WIFI as there is none available at the cabins! For romance, be sure to choose the Rosy Finch Cabin or Raven Cabin, both which are ideal for creating the romantic atmosphere you desire. All cabins come equipped with a wood burning stove, a covered deck, propane bbq (propane included), a fully equipped kitchen, and a wonderful atmosphere. With only four cabins on site you will never have to deal with large crowds of people at this establishment. Each cabin is surrounded by large trees providing you with as much privacy as possible. The cabins are located right in Nordegg, so if you feel like venturing away from the property, why not add a round of golf into your getaway at Nordegg Historical Golf Course.
David Thompson Resort
Located 42 km west of Nordegg, when you stay at David Thompson Resort you will truly get a Rocky Mountain experience. These cabins are literally in the middle of the wilderness and they don’t have any traditional electricity! Situated right at the junction of the Clackstone and Wapiabi Rivers, the setting is truly rustic and romantic. Kootenay Plains
Two O’clock Creek Campground, located within the Kootenay Plains Provincial Recreation Area, is a great site to camp. 67 km west of Nordegg, this PRA is close enough to the mountains to easily access many of the trips and adventures provided in the Rocky Mountain area. While staying there you can easily spend all of your time within the park, fishing, hiking, and rock climbing. But if you are interested in exploring the mountains in a bit of a different way, one idea may be to try a helicopter tour with a stop to check out the always fascinating Abraham Lake. The only way to make it more romantic would be to bring a diamond ring along with you. (hint, hint)
