Dr. David Williams, Chief Medical Officer of Health, reported the second case of Wuhan novel coronavirus.

The patient is the wife of the Canada’s first case of novel coronavirus, who arrived in Toronto, with her husband from China last week. On Wednesday, January 22, they reached Toronto on China Southern Airlines flight CZ31. They travelled from Guangzhou China and used private vehicle for transportation home from Pearson Airport.

The press release stated that this individual has been in self-isolation.

“Given the fact that she has been in self-isolation, the risk to Ontarians remains low,” said Dr. Williams.

Health officials are contacting co-passengers who sat in close vicinity with the man who had coronavirus symptoms.

A news conference will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Queen’s Park to brief the public.
