If the spectacle of a Bridgerton-style ball appeals to you, but a country estate feels out of reach, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada is offering an alternative, complete with waltzing, formalwear and a dramatic setting of swimming stingrays.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
On Friday, April 17, 2026, the aquarium hosts The Sea-Star Ball, a Regency-inspired spring event running from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.
For the event, the aquarium’s galleries become the promenade. Guests are encouraged, though not required, to arrive in their finest attire. Once inside, they can move between exhibits, take part in group waltz lessons and spend time in a designated whisky lounge.
The programming leans into the social rituals associated with Regency-era balls. There are free photo opportunities, surprise giveaways and a playful invitation to “present” oneself to the Queen of the Seven Seas. Custom cocktails, along with food and additional drinks, will be available for purchase throughout the night.

Rather than chandeliers and drawing rooms, the backdrop here is tropical reefs and marine life. The structure, however, includes scheduled dancing, a themed presentation, and an emphasis on dress, echoing the kind of gathering popularized on screen.
The evening is open to guests 19 and over, with tickets priced at $62.50 plus HST.
Tickets are currently on sale for those ready to trade a ballroom ceiling for an ocean view.
For adults looking for another after-hours option at the aquarium, the venue is also hosting a Dive-In Theatre screening of Disney’s The Little Mermaid on March 26, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with tickets set at $80.
