The Marine Animal Response Society, a charitable organization dedicated to marine animal conservation, says an 82-foot long (~25 m) carcass of an endangered blue whale has washed ashore Thursday on Crystal Crescent Beach near Halifax.
According to the Facebook post by the organisation, the Canadian Coast Guard notified them on Wednesday that a whale was adrift before it reached the popular Nova Scotia beach.
They are currently assessing the situation by collecting samples and deciding on the next steps including necropsy.

Marine Animal Response Society said, “While the location is not ideal for a full-scale necropsy, we are working closely with our partners to determine the best steps forward.”

Marine Animal Response Society is reminding those who plan to visit the area not to disturb the carcass or remove any body parts of the federally protected species as it is is illegal.
Environment and natural resources Canada website state “the population size is unknown but there are likely fewer than 250 mature individuals in Canada.”
The longest Blue Whale ever recorded was 33.58m (110ft 17in) long.
