Experience Canada’s original safari adventure when African Lion Safari opens for the 2023 season!
Located at the border of Hamilton and Cambridge, this unique attraction lets you drive through 9 km of ‘reserves’ that take approximately one hour and a half to complete and see lions, giraffes, cheetahs, rhinos and over 1,000 other exotic birds and animals up close.
Things to Do at African Lion Safari
Founded in 1969, this family-owned business is all about conservation and giving you the wildest day of your life.
Drive through a 9-kilometre trail while majestic birds and animals from around the world roam freely around you. You can witness lions, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, and even hand-feed Canada’s largest herd of giraffes!
Want to get even closer? Join a privately guided tour with a Game Warden and watch a pride of lions during their morning meal.
But if you’re not into driving through game reserves, worry not! You can take a Safari Tour Bus that is air-conditioned, educationally guided, and has large windows to ensure you don’t miss a thing. And if that’s still not enough, you can board the “Nature Boy” scenic railway or set sail on the “African Queen” boat cruise to see even more exotic primates and bird dwellers.
Aside from the animals, African Lion Safari has many presentations that will make you go, “Wow!” Watch parrots and other feathered friends showcase their incredible intelligence and natural abilities at Parrot Paradise, or see hawks, eagles, owls, vultures, and falcons soar above your head at the Birds of Prey Flying Demonstration. And don’t forget to visit Little Ray’s Nature Centres to see fascinating cold-blooded animals such as giant lizards, tortoises, huge pythons, and crocodilians!
African Lion Safari also has a petting zoo called Pets’ Corner, where you can interact with macaws, squirrel monkeys, lemurs, and tortoises. Children can also “monkey around” in Safari Venture and Toddlers’ Playground and cool off at Misumu Bay Wetplay.
