From September 1 to 3, celebrate everything that makes Alberta unique as the province turns 118 years old.
From live entertainment and a made-in-Alberta marketplace to beer gardens and activities for kids, there will be fun for the whole family this labour day long weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 2, the provincial government will host free, family-friendly celebrations at the legislature grounds in Edmonton and Heritage Park in Calgary.
Over the course of Alberta Day celebrations, you’ll get to enjoy other live musical performances along with food trucks offering delicious food. In these beer gardens, you can enjoy some local brews, and marketplaces where you can check out what local vendors are offering.
Events are held in Calgary and Edmonton, and many other municipalities.

2023 Alberta Day Celebrations
1. Airdrie
Visit Nose Creek Valley Museum for free activities including all-day museum access, a pancake breakfast, live music, historic storytelling, elder teachings and children’s activities.
Immerse in Culture and Heritage: Explore local history and Indigenous culture via a museum tour, 1-4 p.m. Enjoy an opening Indigenous prayer, birthday cake for early birds, and free access to Nose Creek Valley Museum. Later, relish an old-fashioned picnic from 2-5 p.m. Delight in games like Tug of War, Horseshoes, and more. BYOB and relish the fire pit, fishing pond, and nostalgic Ol’ Candy Shoppe. As the sun sets, experience Outdoor Movie Night with a double feature at 6 and 8 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs for a classic evening under the stars.

Engage in community festivities, including free family skating at the Omniplex and swimming at the Ricochet Oil Corp. Aquatic Centre on September 2 and 3. Don’t miss the Disc Golf course’s grand opening on Sept. 3, 1-4 pm, featuring free starter discs and tutorials for all!
