Alberta Gets New Chief Medical Officer of Health

Dr. Mark Joffe has replaced Dr. Deena Hinshaw as Alberta’s chief medical officer of health.

According to the news release, Dr. Joffe has been appointed as the interim chief medical officer of health effective today. He is currently the vice president and medical director for Cancer Care Alberta, Clinical Support Services and Provincial Clinical Excellence for Alberta Health Services.

The provincial government says the Calgary native will continue in his current contract with AHS, with no additional compensation for the chief medical officer of health role.

 

Dr. Joffe graduated from the University of Calgary in 1982 and is a specialist in internal medicine with special competence in infectious diseases.
