Alberta’s legislature grounds play host to a multitude of events, and festivals and many visit the park to picnic and enjoy the wading pool.
The government is renovating the north plaza grounds of the Legislature and plans to improve the walkways and concrete decking around the water features, refurbish the reflecting pool and ornamental dome fountain, and completely redesign the terraced wading pool.
As part of the renovation, Albertans can give their input and choose from three concepts — Aurora, Strata and River — for the terraced wading pool area.

The survey is available online from January 12 to 27. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2023, with completion expected in 2024.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Infrastructure, Nathan Neudorf inviting Albertans to choose their favourite design said, “We are ensuring that the Legislature water features are accessible, safe, and fun for all Albertans to visit and enjoy. I am excited to see the direction Albertans choose for our new wading pool.”
Renewing or replacing the Alberta legislature grounds water features and walkways is expected to cost $20 million.
