Amazon to Hire 9,000 Employees Across Canada With an Average Hourly Wage of $22.25

Amazon is set to expand its workforce by hiring over 9,000 new employees in various locations across Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

This hiring surge is to prepare for the holiday season and support the launch of five new delivery stations in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, aimed at boosting Amazon’s last-mile delivery capabilities.

Jobs: Roles and Responsibilities:

 

The positions available range from full-time, part-time to seasonal roles within Amazon’s fulfillment, sortation, and delivery centers.

Per the news release, employees will be responsible for stowing, picking, packing, sorting, and shipping customer orders.

Amazon says job seekers can potentially secure long-term careers at Amazon, similar to existing employees who have advanced within the company over the years.

Compensation and Benefits:

Amazon says it raised its average hourly wage in Canada to $22.25, following a $100 million investment in employee compensation.

Eligible staff can benefit from regular pay raises, starting every six months for the first two years, along with a range of benefits, including health coverage and career development opportunities.

 

New Locations:

Job seekers can also get jobs at new delivery stations in Burnaby, Calgary, Windsor, Ottawa, and Richmond Hill, which are scheduled to be operational by the end of October. With this expansion, Amazon will have the footprint of over 65 logistics sites across Canada.
