Haunted Calgary is gearing up to bringing Calgary’s (and perhaps Canada’s) first drive-in immersive Halloween experience to Calgary this year.
The COVID-19 pandemic couldn’t scare away these die-hard haunters, but the thought of hosting their traditional walk-through haunted attraction just didn’t seem possible. While prepared to shut down for the season if they needed to, Haunted Calgary decided to innovate.
This year, Haunted Calgary is reimagining what a haunted attraction may look like, bringing you terror like never before- all from the safety of your parked vehicle!
Haunted Calgary’s unique approach will be a choice of four 7-minute theatrical productions which will be performed around the guest’s vehicle, immersing them in something that is half live haunt and half immersive horror movie.
- Dead End- FULL SCARE You made it this far, but can you make it any further? You’re about to find yourself in a very compromising situation, you seem to have taken a wrong turn and found yourself at a Dead End.
- Carnival of Carnage- FULL SCARE: Don’t bother looking for balloon animals, magic tricks or funny circus acts. These clowns have had enough, tonight they’re on the hunt. On the hunt for you. It’s you and them, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide and the only thing between you and carnage is your windshield.
- Friendly Frights – ALL AGES: Puking Pumpkins, Silly Spirits and Bouncing Bats! We have it all! An immersive family-friendly, fun and memorable experience for the entire family.
- Pandora’s Box Mystery Show – UNKNOWN SCARE LEVEL: Life is like Pandora’s Box, if you open it, you never know what you’re going to get. What you can be certain of, whatever you get won’t be good. There isn’t much to say about this other than we doubt you have the stomach for it. What will you find inside? Will you loose your mind? Your life? Are you awake? Or is it all a bad dream? You’ll have to drive in and find out.
The entire event has been designed specifically to keep Haunted Calgary’s “Scary Safe Promise” to both guests and volunteers/staff. Guests will enjoy the experience from the safety of their own vehicles with windows rolled up, buy their tickets online without contact, wait in a virtual queue for their assigned ticket time to limit numbers, and they’ll be treated to an exclusive private show. Actors will work more than 6’ apart, with masks, sanitizer, daily health screens, and cohort groups. The only thing scary about this experience is the show!
This unique Halloween experience allows guests to choose from one of four storylines, including one family-friendly show and three mature themes. A $50 ticket will get one vehicle in for the show, and that vehicle can hold as many people from the same cohort as it has seatbelts. People wanting an extra scare may want to go it alone for a totally private experience. Guests can customize their experience with a full immersion add-on for another $50, which includes a commemorative photo after a more extreme scare and their vehicle being given an “extra blood” treatment.
