Applications Open for 2019 Bayer Fund Scholarships for Eligible Canadian High School Students

imageSponsored by the philanthropic arm of Bayer, the Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program has announced nearly $100,000 in scholarships for Canadian students who want to pursue higher education in an agricultural or food related field.

Since it was first introduced in Canada in 1991, the Bayer Fund scholarship program has awarded close to $2 million to thousands of deserving students.

 

Sixty-five of the best and brightest grade 12 graduating students from across the country will receive a $1,500 scholarship to pursue post-secondary education in an agriculture or food-related discipline.

Criteria to apply for a Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship

  • Students must have confirmed plans to enroll in their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture, an agriculture-related program or a food-related field of study at a Canadian educational institution;
  • Students must have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership capabilities, and a keen interest and involvement in giving back to their community;
  • Students must submit a completed application and include an essay that outlines the future role they hope to play in agriculture or food and how they see themselves making an impact in the industry. They also must have a farmer or food-related professional provide a reference letter for them.

All completed application forms must be post-marked no later than May 31, 2019.

APPLICATIONS:

Scholarship application forms in both French and English will be available in high schools, 4-H Clubs, provincial and federal agriculture offices, farm retail outlets and seed companies.

Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges and winning entries will be announced in September 2019.
