A Water Lantern Festival is touring Canada from May.
As per the organisers, the participants will enjoy incredible experiences with the whole family.
Join at a body of water and launch lanterns into the water and celebrate with thousands of family, friends, and strangers. You have to purchase the lanterns from the organisers. The lanterns are made with wood and rice paper.
According to the organisers, the festival will include food trucks and live entertainment and after sunset, you can launch the lantern into the water and enjoy the sight of lit lanterns adrift in water.
The organisers are promising to clean up the lanterns from the water following the event as well as cleaning up any trash that may have been previously been in or around the water.

Thank you for posting your experience regarding the cancellation of your event. I was looking into this pricey event and was curious about the “protection” program. It feels sketchy and like a cash grab. In addition, there are very few details regarding the charity component of the event. I would like to know how much of the ticket price actually gets donted to water.org.
Yet another update. I have now been informed by organizers that an $8.72 processing fee will be withheld from my refund. This makes no sense to me since they cancelled the event in Hamilton. I am not asking for any special favours, I just want the organizers to do the right thing and issue a full refund!
Update: About an hour after I posted my previous comment, I received a notification via Eventbrite that my refund was being processed.
Very disappointed that the Water Lantern Festival schedule August 3rd in Hamilton has been cancelled. Organizers are refusing to issue refunds unless “ticket protection” was purchased, stating the tickets will be honored a week later at the event in Mississauga. This is unacceptable. I don’t feel uplifted, I feel fleeced.
