A&W Canada has added a new limited-time burger to its menu: the Steakhouse Teen Burger. Developed after testing over 50 variations, the burger features a combination of sweet and savoury ingredients intended to evoke steakhouse flavours.

The Steakhouse Teen Burger features bacon jam, peppercorn aioli, and fresh arugula, complementing the existing Teen Burger ingredients like cheddar cheese, tomato, and grass-fed beef. The beef used in the burger is raised without hormones or steroids, continuing A&W’s sourcing standards.
According to A&W, the recipe was chosen after an evaluation process involving more than 700 Canadian consumers. Participants ranked proposed variations—including unconventional versions like the Everything Bagel Teen Burger and a Chocolate Teen Burger—based on craveability. The steakhouse-inspired option emerged as the top pick.
Karan Suri, Senior Director of Innovation at A&W, stated that bacon jam became the central flavour component due to its sweet and smoky profile. The development team selected additional ingredients like arugula and peppercorn aioli to align with traditional steakhouse tastes.
Alongside the main item, A&W is also offering a smaller version called the Steakhouse Buddy Burger, available for $4.99. Both versions are being offered at participating A&W restaurants and through the company’s mobile app. The items are not available in Quebec.
The introduction of this burger continues A&W’s strategy of rotating limited-time offerings while using customer input to guide product development.
