Calgary Zoo’s Holiday Light Festival Returns For the 25th Year With “Dinos at Night” Experience

After 24 successful years, Calgary’s award-winning holiday tradition, Zoolights is back with more fun and exciting activities for 6 weeks at Calgary Zoo.

To celebrate the silver anniversary, Zoolights has new themed activities for all ages along with some traditional favourites.

Experience the classic holiday story of the Nutcracker in the ENMAX Conservatory. There will be massive nutcrackers and a stunning ballerina made of delicate flowers.

 

In the Dinos in the Dark experience, you can meet all kinds of dinosaurs at the prehistoric park. Travel to Africa in the Journey to Wechiau and learn about the zoo conservation partnership with the Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary in Ghana.

Enter the magical Polar Wonderland that has tons of candy, snow and everything wonderful and make many fun memories there. You can also visit Santa in his cabin at the Karsten Discovery Centre. Santa will only be available till December 23rd. Those visitors who are members can meet Santa on Member Mondays between 5-6 p.m.

Zoolights’ Canada’s Wetland is a tribute to the wetlands and kids 12 and under can participate in fun activities, such as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Other fun winter activities include ice skating and rival axe throwing.

2021 edition of Zoolights will feature over 200 light figurines, bright lights and interactive light displays. You can walk through their new Tunnel of Light or take a walk down their 25th-anniversary memory lane. There will be fire pits to warm up and a holiday zoo market, where you can purchase handicrafts from local businesses, yummy snacks, hot chocolate and so much more.

There are 2 special events for adults this year – an Enchanted Dinner featuring a four-course dinner on November 16th and an adults night out on November 23rd.

The family New Year’s Eve celebration ‘Zoo Year’s Eve’ is also returning this year.
