The free fare zone will now be known as TD Free Fare Zone after Calgary entered into a five-year partnership with TD Bank Group.
TD Free Fare Zone includes Route 201 and Route 202 and runs along 7th Avenue between the City Hall and 8th Street S.W. stations.
Mayor Jyoti Gondek said in a news release that this is the first time a transit agency has worked with a sponsor to rename a section of its network.
As per the news release, TD was selected after a Request for Information (RFI) for renaming the free fare zone was released by Calgary Transit in 2021.
New banners and signage will start appearing at the stations in the new year.
