After a tense playoff final, Bosnia and Herzegovina booked its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a win over Italy. That victory sets up a Group B opener against Canada on June 12 in Toronto.
For Canada, the matchup carries extra weight. It will be the team’s first game of the tournament, played at home, and a chance to set the tone early against a side riding momentum from a dramatic qualification.
The tournament schedule is already mapped out. After opening night in Toronto at BMO Field, Canada heads west to Vancouver, where it faces Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24.
This marks Canada’s third appearance at the men’s World Cup, but notably its first time qualifying for back-to-back tournaments.
Elsewhere, the playoff picture filled in several remaining spots across the tournament.
In Group D, the United States, Paraguay and Australia will be joined by Turkiye, which advanced with a 1–0 win over Kosovo.
Group F now includes Sweden after a narrow 3–2 victory against Poland.
In Group A, Czechia moved through on penalties against Denmark.
Two final playoff decisions are still pending. Congo will face Jamaica for a place in Group K, while Iraq meets Bolivia for a spot in Group I.
