Events Description

Get ready to dive deep into the world of social media with ArtistSpeak – the coffee will be flowing and the ideas will be brewing!

Part talk show, storytelling circle, and creative gathering examining how artists show up, burn out, disconnect, and reimagine their relationship to social media.

Spend the evening with artists in conversation about visibility, algorithms, self-promotion, authenticity, and the emotional realities of being creative online. Together, we’ll unpack how social media shapes not only how work is shared, but how artists see themselves, their audiences, and their sense of value.

This event offers space to reflect, commiserate, and collectively imagine healthier, more sustainable ways of being an artist in a digital-first world.

Featured Artists:

Tea Fannie doesn’t just make music—she throws lyrical confetti into the air and dares you to dance in it. Her 2024 album It’s All Love had Range magazine calling it one of the best of theyear, snagged three YYC Music Award nominations, and got love from Exclaim!. She’s rapped in the snow at Yellowknife’s Snow King Festival, brought the heat to Tokyo, stole hearts at Prague Pride, and kept crowds vibing at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. Whether she’s bending genres or breaking hearts, Tea delivers sharp bars with a wink, a grin, and a beat from friends that won’t quit. Her shows? Equal parts therapy session, block party, and stand-up set. Basically, if she’s on stage, you’re in for a good time—whether you’re ready or not.

Julie Olive is the creator of SHY FRiEND – an alternative rock band from Calgary who are quickly spreading their unique brand of chaos across the world through their wild shows & catchy songs. Julie has been a professional live-streamer and content creator for over 5 years, building a passionate fanbase who matches her brand of absurdity perfectly while supporting her musical endeavours IRL and online. Julie is a strong advocate for accessibility at her shows & uses her online expertise to create blended experiences that keep all of her supporters connected.

Pam Rocker (she/her) is an American/Canadian firebrand—Certified DEIB Specialist, consultant, performer, and writer who blends advocacy with humour. From Pride parades to Parliament Hill, she’s done everything from fronting a queer feminist ukulele comedy band to helping push for federal legislation banning conversion therapy. Having recently trained at legendary Los Angeles comedy institutions (UCB, The Groundlings), Pam is passionate about weaving laughter and groundedness into everything she does. She is the Director of Affirming Connections, a queer advocacy org; a member of The Kinkonauts improv group; a proud WordFest host; and a consultant to organizations across North America to spark courageous conversations.
