Events Description

Music. Fashion. Community Market.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Black History Month, the National Music Centre will present a full-day celebration spotlighting the creativity, legacy, and future of Calgary’s Black community. Admission is free!

Curated by legendary MuchMusic VJ Master T and hosted by NMC’s Rebecca Bukasa, the day will recognize the Government of Canada’s theme for 2026: “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations – From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.” The event will feature performances by eight-piece neo-soul and hip-hop collective (un)decided and singer Peace Etaje, as well as a fashion show curated by streetwear stylist Jimmy Boi, and community conversations with respected Black community leaders and business owners.

Throughout the day, the main floor of Studio Bell will transform into a Black History Month Market, bringing together 20 Black-owned vendors and community organizations, while showcasing fashion, art, jewelry, and cultural goods.

About (un)decided
Blending elements of R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, funk and Afrobeats, (un)decided is an eight-piece ensemble born out of a love for jamming, freestyle cyphers, and a whole lot of groove. Based in Calgary, their live shows are a culmination of melodic spontaneity and drippy jazz-infused hip-hop.
