Four-piece Newfoundland band Rum Ragged has built a sterling reputation in the Celtic and roots world as a prolific, hard-working touring and recording ensemble since forming in 2016. JUNO Award nominees in 2021 for their latest album, The Thing About Fish, their music combines the best of traditional Canadian East Coast Maritime sounds and themes with dynamic energy, excellent harmonies and authentic musicianship. With instrumentation including bouzouki, fiddle, bodhran, banjo, guitar, and button accordion, Rum Ragged’s kinetic live shows, humour and storytelling prowess enlighten and enliven audiences in equal measure. First Up: Terra Spencer
Award-winning Nova Scotia songwriter Terra Spencer weaves together fingerstyle guitar, jazz-inflected piano, butterscotch-smooth vocals and subtle humour to create intimate, accomplished songs, gently drawing audiences into the world of her gifted storytelling. A poised performer, she is a musician’s musician, with a fanbase that includes David Francey, Matt Andersen and Ron Sexsmith, for whom she is, quite simply, “the real deal.”
