Events Description

Calgarians are invited to attend Disaster Alley and learn ways to prepare their homes and families for emergencies such as floods, power outages and severe weather events.

Calgarians will meet our city’s everyday heroes and first responders, including the Calgary Fire Department, Calgary Search and Rescue Association (CALSARA), HAWCS, and more than 30 exhibitors who provide assistance in emergencies and disasters.

Agencies will be giving demonstrations on how they use specialized emergency response equipment and how specifically trained canines are used to assist in rescue efforts.

Demonstrations will also include how to build a 72-hour emergency preparedness kit to keep families safe for three days in an emergency.

Disaster Alley occurs during Emergency Preparedness Week, a national event that aims to build a culture of preparedness in Canada.
