Events Description
Lantern Peace Festival brings together local artistry and global advocacy with a captivating lineup featuring book talks by former child soldier James Mathiang and community builder Dr. Arthur Clark, alongside insights from Rights to Learn Afghanistan Senior Director Murwarid Ziayee.
The stage will come alive with cultural showcases by the Calgary Okinawan Club and the Calgary Vietnamese Women’s Association, as well as a performance by Indigenous singer-songwriter Dorothy Walker. At the Children’s Global Crossroad, children can explore traditional games from cultures including India, Japan, Ukraine, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
Join us to listen, learn, and connect. Concurrent events: Exhibitions of the finalists of the “Calgary International Contest for Young Artists” and “Building A Culture of Peace Exhibition.”
