September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This day honours the survivors of residential schools and the children who never returned home, as well as to recognize the inter-generational impact and trauma that residential schools continue to have on individuals, families, and communities.
As part of our ongoing mission of reconciliation and decolonization, The Confluence will be offering a variety of free programming all day, including free admission to exhibits in the cultural centre, programming in tipis on the land, educational walking tours and more. The site will also host the City of Calgary Orange Shirt Day Program from 9-10:30 am.
We highly encourage visitors to our site on this day to come wearing an orange shirt or other orange clothing items, such as scarves, hats, buttons, etc. If you are in need of an orange shirt, we recommend purchasing from any local Indigenous artist or vendor.
