From the Elizabethan Court to New York City
Love songs from the Elizabethan court to the streets of New York — with two pianos in between! The concluding concert of the season is sure to delight with internationally acclaimed Vancouver- based artists, the Bergmann Duo, featuring Brahms’ charming Liebeslieder Waltzes and Variations on a Theme by Haydn as well as a suite of songs from Bernstein’s West Side Story.
The Program
• Johannes Brahms: The lush, choral Liebeslieder Waltzes and the intricate Variations on a Theme by Haydn.
• Leonard Bernstein: A definitive suite from West Side Story, reimagined for two pianos.
• The Piano Duo: A rare opportunity to witness the Bergmanns’ lifetime of collaborative precision, effectively evoking the scale of a full orchestra through two pianos.
