Events Description
Gather for a day of dance, music and community at Heritage Park on January 18, featuring The Owl Dance & the Waltz.
Rooted in a deep connection to the land, the Owl Dance was gifted to the Blackfoot from nature as a celebration of courtship and joy. Though these traditions were suppressed during the colonial era, the Owl Dance endured through resilience, evolving as its movements blended with the Waltz. Together, they form a social dance that reflects shared histories and cultural connections.
Guests are invited to watch dancers compete for prizes and, following the competition, step into the circle themselves. No prior dance experience is required and all are welcome to participate with respect.
