Events Description
An exhibit titled Unfamiliar Perspectives: The NWMP and Canada’s Colonial Project opens Sept. 9 at The Confluence. Built around archival photographs, sketches, newspaper pages, personal journals and government records, the exhibit will highlight lesser-known stories about the North-West Mounted Police.
Unfamiliar Perspectives will run until fall 2026, and will serve as the foundation for a permanent NWMP exhibit that will be developed for Phase 3 of The Confluence’s exhibit overhaul.
This event is being offered as part of an event series The Confluence is hosting to commemorate 150 years since the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) first arrived at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers and established Fort Calgary in 1875. The Confluence is taking a reflective approach in sharing the stories that make the site so significant. Find the full event line-up at theconfluence.ca/150
