Events Description
The University of Calgary Drama Division in the School of Creative and Performing Arts is proud to present The Elevator Project.
Two daring new plays. Be among the first to witness The Elevator Project, a double bill written by UCalgary student, Sophia Garcia. This is the inaugural year of The Elevator Project, a 100% student-driven production that showcases the passion, creativity, and dedication of emerging theatre artists. In ‘We Are Animals’, a dark period piece, human instincts shift when survival feels threatened, revealing what happens when social rules are no longer enough. In ‘How to Eat Buttered Crabs’, shipwrecked sailor Lips battles hunger, loneliness, and the ghosts of his lost crewmates, clinging to hope and his unusual fondness for crabs in a darkly comic and haunting tale that walks the thin line between man and crab.
Presented by the Drama Division in the School of Creative and Performing Arts, this student-led production is directed by Sophia Garcia and Chris Mosimann, set and props designed by Abigail Monarrez, costume designed by Katie Drysdale and brought to life by students who designed, produced, stage managed, and performed every aspect of the show—truly putting Calgary’s next batch of emerging artists center stage.
