Events Description
Calgary-based arts organization Honens will mark World Piano Day by bringing a Steinway & Sons concert grand piano into Centre Court at Southcentre Mall for an afternoon of free live performances. The pop-up showcase will feature a mix of professional musicians and emerging local talent, including 2022 Honens Prize Laureate Illia Ovcharenko, along with piano students from the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University Conservatory.
The event also launches Piano Project YYC 2026, a new Honens initiative aimed at bringing live piano performances to unexpected public spaces around the city – removing the traditional barriers of concert halls and inviting people to experience world-class music in everyday settings.
