Events Description
Celebrate Canada Day at Alberta’s centre of democracy.
Canada Day at the Legislature offers free entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy at one of the most picturesque places in our province, the Alberta Legislature Grounds.
- The Main Stage will be rocking this year with bands you won’t want to miss. Kick off the festivities with Oiler’s anthem singer, Robert Clark and end the day with acclaimed indie-folk band, Reuben and the Dark.
- Discover the richness of our province’s cultural landscape through the music and dance of some of Alberta’s best multicultural performers. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy performances all afternoon at South Grounds Bandshell.
- Fun for all ages, the South Grounds are the place to be for music, dance, magic and fun! Allow yourself to be mystified and get crafting while taking in the beauty of the Grounds.
- Enjoy Edmonton’s premier brass band the Brasstactics, plus jugglers, circus acts and puppetry performers roving throughout the Alberta Legislature Grounds.
- Join us for fun, sun (fingers crossed) and yard games on the East Grounds!
- Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Legislature Building through an open house. Visit the Chamber to see where your MLA sits and stop by the Legislature Library to see the infamous hamburger! Last entry at 4:30 p.m.
- The Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre on the main floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Building will be open to the public on Canada Day. Visitors can enjoy the film Our People Our Province in the Pehonan Theatre, visit the Democracy Discovery Centre, shop Capital Gifts (Debit or credit only, no cash) and visit Your Alberta Legislature: The Story of a Place exhibit in the Borealis Gallery.
