Events Description

Celebrate Canada Day at Alberta’s centre of democracy.

Canada Day at the Legislature offers free entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy at one of the most picturesque places in our province, the Alberta Legislature Grounds.

  • Legislature Open House: The Legislature’s Chamber floor is open to the public only on Canada Day. Ascend the grand staircase and enter the room where it happens! See where your MLA sits and marvel at the Chamber’s iconic architecture. As well, stop in at the library and look for strange objects like a 54-year-old hamburger.
  • A variety of food trucks and food stands will be stationed throughout the Legislature Grounds with snacks and beverages for those who get hungry.
  • Alberta Family Fun Zone: The Alberta Family Fun Zone will feature fun and interactive entertainment throughout the day, including roving performers, a magician, balloon-twisting demonstrations and a crafts tent.
  • Alberta Diversity Stage: The Alberta Diversity stage on the Legislature south bandshell will celebrate the richness of our province’s cultural landscape through the music and dance of some of Alberta’s best multicultural performers. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy performances all afternoon.
  • Alberta Discovered Stage: Some of the best singer/songwriter artists and bands in the country hail from Alberta, and on Canada Day you’ll find them at the Alberta Discovered stage on Violet King Henry Plaza!
