Enjoy the magnificent fireworks display over Edmonton’s river valley parks and the North Saskatchewan River.

Wednesday, July 1, 11 pm

18-minute fireworks display will start at 11 p.m.

Venue:
Launched from Kinsmen Park launch site – Edmonton Huskies Sports Field West Kinsmen, below the High Level Bridge

No viewing is available from Kinsmen Park.

Pedestrian access will be unavailable in Kinsmen Park, including trail access, after road closures are in effect. Kinsmen playground, tennis courts and picnic areas are closed starting at 6 a.m. on Canada Day, July 1.

Queen Elizabeth Park and Hill
River Valley Road Trail
Victoria Park
Constable Ezio Faraone Park (west entrance to High Level Bridge on 109 Street north)

Good Viewing Locations (Indirect Sightline)
Alberta Legislature Grounds
Walterdale Hill Road sidewalks and east Promenade
Government House Park
109 Street (between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge)

North-South Pedestrian Bridge Access:

The following pedestrian access across the North Saskatchewan River will be unavailable from 9:45 p.m. until 30 minutes after the fireworks:
High Level Bridge
109 Street southbound, from 97 Avenue/ High Level Bridge to 87 Avenue
Menzies Bridge

Pedestrian access across the river will be available via the Groat Road Bridge, James Macdonald Bridge, Walterdale Bridge and the Low Level Bridge.

There will be no stopping or parking from 7pm until midnight at these locations:

109 Street, between 99 Avenue and 104 Avenue
109 Street, between 82 Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive
107 Street, between 99 Avenue and 102 Avenue
105 Street, between 102 Avenue and 104 Avenue
River Valley Road, from 105 Street to Groat Road
After 8pm, parking will not be available at the Kinsmen Sports Centre, Queen Elizabeth Pool or Victoria Park Site #6 picnic shelter.

Road Closures on July 1
Expect traffic delays two hours before the fireworks and two hours after the show. Please be patient and courteous to help to make the trip home from the fireworks safe for everyone.
River Valley Fireworks – Road Closures

6am:

  • Queen Elizabeth Park and Indigenous Art Park : ᐄᓃᐤ (ÎNÎW) River Lot 11∞ parking lots
  • Fortway Road north of Royal Glenora Club parking lot entrance
  • River Valley Road, westbound from 105 Street to Groat Road Bridge (until 9am)
  • Groat Road southbound, from Groat Road Bridge to 107 Avenue (until 8:30am)
  • Groat Road Bridge (until 8:30am)
  • 99 Avenue, from 107 Street to 108 Street
  • Fortway Drive, from Royal Glenora Club to 96 Avenue
  • 96 Avenue, from 106 Street to Fortway Drive (until 6pm)
  • 107 Street, from 98 Avenue to Fortway Drive (until 6pm)

7am:

  • Emily Murphy Park Road, from Groat Road to 116 Street (until 9am)Saskatchewan Drive, from 111 Street to 116 Street (until 9am)

8pm:

  • Kinsmen Sports Centre and Queen Elizabeth Pool parking lot

9:30pm:

  • River Valley Road (westbound traffic permitted from Victoria Golf Course and the Royal Glenora Club)

9:45pm:

  • Menzies LRT bridge: pedestrian level closed
  • High Level Bridge sidewalks closed (both sides)
  • Walterdale Hill
  • Walterdale Bridge: closed to vehicles; pedestrian access open (both sides)
  • Queen Elizabeth Park Road
  • 107 Street, from 98 Avenue to Jasper Avenue
  • 109 Street northbound, from 87 Avenue to Saskatchewan Drive
  • 104 Street, south of 96 Avenue

10:15pm:

  • High Level Bridge: closed to vehicles

11pm:

  • 97 Avenue, from 105 Street to 109 Street
  • 109 Street, from 97 Avenue to 100 Avenue
