Events Description

The Birkie, or the Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival, is an annual event that celebrates all things cross country skiing, including a Nordic Fair and Vikings Feast. With up to 2000 participants and over 400 volunteers it is one of Canada’s largest Nordic ski events.

Enjoy a celebration of cross country skiing and Nordic Legends. The Birkie is Western Canada’s Premier Nordic Ski Event and one of only three Birkebeiner Loppets in the world – Norway and the USA host the other two. Now in its 36th year, the Birkie continues the tradition of honouring perseverance, courage and fortitude…as well as lots of Nordic Fun for the whole family!

Join us on routes of 55 (with or without 6 kg backpack), 31, 29 skate ski, 13, 4 or 2.5 km.
