Enjoy a three-day celebration of cross country skiing and Nordic Legends. The Birkie is Western Canada’s Premier Nordic Ski Event and one of only three Birkebeiner Loppets in the world – Norway and the USA host the other two. Now in its 33rd year, the Birkie continues the tradition of honouring perseverance, courage and fortitude…as well as lots of Nordic Fun for the whole family!
Join us on routes of 55 (with or without 6 kg backpack), 31, 29 skate ski, 13, 4 or 2.5 km. There is also a Viking’s Feast in the evening of Feb. 9th as well as a Nordic Fair and opening Ceremonies on Feb. 8th. This is one of three such events in the World!! Please join us for the fun and celebrations.
Birkie Sunday Family Event in collaboration with Edmonton Nordic Ski Club on Sunday will include A Fancy Dress competition and 0ther fun events for kids in addition ski events.

Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village – start for the 55, 31 km routes
Waskehegan Staging area (Cooking Lake – Blackfoot Recreation Area) – start for the 2.5, 4 and 13 km routes and finish for ALL of the ski routes.
Park at the BETHEL TRANSIT STATION in Sherwood Park and take the shuttle buses to and from the Start/Finish area (Waskehegan staging area)
