Events Description
Diyet and the Love Soldiers, a dynamic trio from the Yukon, blend alternative country, folk, roots, and traditional music into a sound as vast and diverse as the northern landscape. Fronted by Diyet, a singer-songwriter of Southern Tutchone, Tlingit, Japanese, and Scottish heritage, the band’s music is deeply rooted in her Indigenous worldview and northern life. Diyet, who grew up on the ancestral lands of the Kluane First Nation, sings in both English and Southern Tutchone, weaving stories of resilience, tradition, and connection to the land. Backed by her husband Robert van Lieshout (guitar, percussion) and Juno Award-winning producer Bob Hamilton (mandolin, pedal steel), the trio’s performances are both powerful and intimate. Since their formation, Diyet and the Love Soldiers have toured extensively across Canada and Europe, gracing major festivals and stages. Their 2018 album, Diyet and the Love Soldiers, earned nominations for Folk Album of the Year at the Indigenous Music Awards and Indigenous Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. With a sound that captures the spirit of the North and a stage presence that draws audiences into their stories, Diyet and the Love Soldiers offer a musical journey that is both heartfelt and unforgettable.
