Purple City is a multi-day, multi-venue, music experience for all ages.
With its roots established in 2013 [ up+dt ] Purple City is a forward thinking music festival of the future. We are a youth inspired arts event that is focused on the newest sounds from the global underground.
The festival’s eclectic programming and passion for independent music continue to create a one-of-a-kind festival experience that showcases the best talent from our own backyard, in addition to opening our ears to some incredible national and international acts.
Purple City’s mandate is to create an event for all ages that is diverse, inclusive and progressive. From psyche rock to punk rock; avant garde to folk, Purple City is music Festival of discovery & indie staples a like.

The 2026 edition also spotlights Western Canada’s underground, with Gucci Chain Letter, Truster, Panic Pixie, V.Vecker, John From Dawson, Molten Lava, Death Cassette, Rebel Grrrlz and dozens more from across the region.
This year marks a major expansion of Purple City’s free programming. The Purple City Block Party returns with two days of free live music and professional wrestling hosted by Love Wrestling, alongside new free daytime hip hop, hardcore and experimental showcases. The Masonic Market also returns with local artists, makers and independent vendors.
Purple City also welcomes guest curators including Eric Gilbert of Treefort Music Festival, curating a Boise artist focused showcase at River City Revival; Hemen Tor-Agbidye, also known as The Blue, curating Purple City’s first free hip hop showcase; Marek Tyler of tahkaki on CKUA and ASKO, curating an Indigenous showcase presented with Edmonton AMPLIFIED; and youth promoter Project 23, curating a hardcore showcase featuring Initiate.
