In celebration of EIFF’s 40th anniversary, arriving September 24 to October 3, 2026, we’ve elected to share some of our favourite films as we hurtle down the Road to 40! On the fourth Thursday of each month from May to August, join us at Metro Cinema and Landmark Cinemas 9 City Centre as we share a film from each decade of our festival’s life!
We’ll reveal each film one month in advance at each preceding screening, so make sure you’re in the theatre for the first scoop!
The inaugural screening is of Anne Wheeler’s made-in-Alberta classic BYE BYE BLUES!
Join us at Metro Cinema on Thursday, May 28 at 6:30pm for the film, to be followed by an in-person Q&A with celebrated Canadian filmmaker Anne Wheeler
