Events Description
Embark on an evening cross-country ski adventure at Waskehegan Staging Area in Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area. Glide under the starry sky and propel yourself forward while enjoying a unique landscape of shadows created by the full moon. Enjoy stories, hot chocolate and snacks in the warmed huts at the start or midway.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This 12 km route rolls and winds through the scenic Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, from the Waskehegan Staging Area to Meadow Shelter and back.
Remember to bring:
1) Headlamp with an extra battery
2) Classic-style skis, ski boots and poles
3) Extra set of warm clothes to change into after the ski
4) Spirit for adventure
5) Appropriate outerwear and footwear for weather

Children 2 – 11 years of age must be registered with and accompanied by an adult guardian.
Your registration includes:
- Approximately 12 km Classic technique ski tracks in majestic Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, approximately 48 km east of Edmonton
- Hot chocolate, snacks, and a bonfire midway and at the end of the ski
- Ski Patrollers along the course and Sweeps at the end
- Love and admiration of dedicated volunteers
