Events Description

Join us at the Indigenous Peoples Experience, Fort Edmonton Park to honour, learn, and create. Led by Tracy Alikamik (Inuit/Métis artist, Treaty 6 Territory), these workshops blend hands-on craft, cultural history, and meaningful connection.

Oopik Owl Workshop
Create a beautifully crafted Oopik Owl, a keepsake that reflects deep heritage and hands-on learning.

At this workshop, participants will get the chance to honour the snowy owl by creating their own ookpik snowy owl using a glover needle, thimble, sinew and seal hide and will learn how to sew a finger puppet. Ookpik owls are prominent in Inuit art, appearing in toys, printmaking and soapstone carvings, and now you get the chance to make your own.
