Shirley Valentine is one of the most celebrated, totally hilarious (and totally relatable) comedies of our time. Shirley is a bored, middle-aged housewife trapped in a stale and loveless marriage. She finds solace in her daily glass of wine, talking to the walls as she muses over the lack of excitement in her life. So when her best friend Jane asks her to go to Greece with her for an impromptu holiday, Shirley jumps at the chance – leaving a note for her husband that simply reads “Gone to Greece – back in two weeks”. But when Jane ditches Shirley for a fling with a man she met on the plane, Shirley is forced to venture out on her own. Determined to find herself again, and with a little help from an irresistible local fisherman, she rediscovers the woman she used to be and the happiness that she has been missing.
