Events Description
The City of Edmonton is hosting the Nîcimos (Sweetheart) Round Dance. The event starts with a Pipe Ceremony at 3:30pm, followed by a Feast at 5pm. The Round Dance will begin at 6pm with emcees Al Crawford and Ben Cardinal; the stickman is Farley Cardinal.
Additionally at 6pm, there will be Indigenous Artisan Vendor tables set up to sell their work with the community, as well as Indigenous Community Organizations invited to table and share resources. This is a drug and alcohol free event that is open to the public.
In alignment with the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Municipal Action Plan, this round dance promotes healthy relationships, healing, and kinship for the community while also honouring families affected by the MMIR crisis.
