Take a seat, please – the show’s about to start! ZENON+ is the musical union of two Calgary creators, who formed in October 2019. ZENON+ is an award-winning singer/songwriter who plays keys and guitar alongside the duo’s beat keeper BEV on percussion and singing harmonies.
Their genre-scape stretches from A to Z, offering a sound that is jazzy, soulful with an R&B groove and their live shows are dynamic, featuring distinct originals from ZENON’s debut album GENRE Z, paired with select standards and covers. An uncanny ability to weave through recognizable tunes is impressive, especially from the wide repertoire of renowned artists from many genres such as Bill Withers, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Chris Stapleton, Adele and even Freddy Mercury.
Named YYCMA Solo Artist of the Year (2022) and Prophets of Music Emerging Artist (2021), ZENON’s trajectory has been described as ‘skyward’. Performing 60 live shows including major festivals in 2022, the same momentum continued in 2023 with an exclusive show at Road to Junos opening for Alex Cuba in Edmonton, the 8th Annual Block Heater Festival in Calgary and at Canada’s most important ‘discovery music’ festival NXNE, they performed on stages from Toronto to Vancouver Island and this mighty duo is excited to bring fresh sounds to their own backyard at Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts.
