Situated on 64 hectares (158 acres) of wooded parkland along Edmonton’s river valley, Fort Edmonton Park is a historically-themed attraction offering authentic, immersive, memorable and fun experiences to visitors of all ages. Visitors go back in time more than 150 years and walk through the days of the fur trade, and the pioneer years of 1885, 1905 and 1920. Costumed interpreters bring the past to life and invite you to experience the best of the period.

The Park is open to the public from the May long weekend to the end of September as well as for a variety of holidays and special occasions.

Sunday Brunch – Year round. Special programming for Christmas, Valentine’s Day and other special days.

2019 – Closed for 2019 season.

We will not be open for the 2019 regular admission season as we undergo a multi-million dollar enhancement project. During this time, we will still be open for private event bookings and a variety of food and entertainment events.

Fort Edmonton Park is located at the corner of Fox Drive and Whitemud Drive. The entrance to the Park is located on Fox Drive on the north side of the drive (7000 – 143 Street). Click on the Map tab (in-page) or on the GPS coordinates for google map directions.

Access to Fort Edmonton Park via public transit is easy and convenient with two ETS bus routes: route 595 and route 596.

Route 595:

Route: South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park Transit Centre to Fort Edmonton Park

Time : Three times per hour from 9:30 AM to 6:10 PM daily.

Route 596:

Route: South Campus/Fort Edmonton Transit Centre – Fort Edmonton Park, John Janzen Nature Centre and the Valley Zoo

Time : Everyday, every hour between 11am and 5pm.

Bus routes start Victoria Day Weekend to Labour Day Weekend. Regular bus fares apply.

Accessible parking, Accessible entrance way, and accessible lift on steam train.

Access to washrooms at Hotel Selkirk, Gyro Park, Masonic Hall, Reed’s Tea Room, Bill’s Confectionery and Egge’s Barn.
Accessible wagon with wheelchair access.

Because of the need for historical accuracy, some buildings and the Hudson’s Bay Fort have limited accessibility. Most ground level buildings have ramps.

Dining & Accommodation:

From vending machines to fresh baked goods, there are a number of available food vendors in Fort Edmonton Park.

Johnson’s Cafe, a full service restaurant located in the hotel, serving meals through the day and a formal High Tea on Wednesdays (reservations required), plus many other events throughout the year.

Mahogany Bar, a stand-up pre-prohibition style saloon, offers a variety of wine, beer and spirits with appetizer specials.

    We used to visit all the time, but sadly the prices have gone up too much and we can no longer afford it. It was great though always something new to do. Too bad.
