Events Description
For over 30 years Lynden Canada Day has been a wonderful day of family fun, community pride and patriotism. Lynden Canada Day is a not-for-profit event organized by a committee of unpaid volunteers from Lynden and surrounding neighbourhoods. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the City of Hamilton’s Community Partnership Program, the Lynden Lions and donations from the day’s delighted visitors, we raise all the funds required to run the day. As a result of that generosity, the entire day – all activities & games, live entertainment, and the best fireworks show in the area – is entirely free for our community’s families. We think that’s a tradition worth continuing!
Parade – The day starts at 3 pm with a colourful parade which works its way down the main street through the village, finishing up at the Lion’s Park.
Face Painting – Face painting, cow patty bingo, children’s games, adult draws, magician and balloon twisting are just some of the fun activities to do in the park!
Antique Cars – Bring your classic, custom, rat rod, etc. and show it off! A shady area of the park will be reserved for you to display and relax during the Canada Day celebrations.
First, Second and Third place for cars and trucks, First and Second place for agricultural will be awarded at 6:00 p.m. Draw prizes throughout the afternoon.
Bouldering Wall – At the Lion’s Park there will be food booths, a variety of entertainment, assorted activities, and kids’ games continuing right through until dusk. Come try your hand at the climbing wall!
Pinecar Derby – Pinewood derby is a racing event where the participants design and build a gravity propelled car from the block, wheel and axles provided in the kits. Participants are urged to be creative in the car shape and painting. The cars will be raced on the official Canada Day Track at the Canada Day Festival on July 1.
Car kits available for sale at Shearlea Acres for $10
