Events Description

Black Out Night (BON) returns, centred around the world premiere of the English Theatre production of Natasha Mumba’s Copperbelt, delivering a full end-to-end experience rooted in the spirit of Ubuntu, “I am because we are.”

The evening opens with a vibrant Market and Community Hub showcasing local women-led businesses and artists from Ottawa’s African and Caribbean diasporas — a space to gather, celebrate, and support community.

After the performance of Copperbelt, the energy keeps going with BON Nuit, a lounge-style after-party where music, conversation, and an African-inspired menu come together in a welcoming atmosphere.

Come be part of a night shaped by connection, culture, and the Ubuntu belief that our strength and our stories are shared across community.

NAC Black Out Nights offer Black audiences and their guests an opportunity to enjoy performances with their community. As always, everyone is welcome to join the BON during the performance of Copperbelt, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and celebration.
