For the first time, the Embassy of Mexico in Canada, in collaboration with UNAM-Canadá and the Modern American School of Mexico City, will present a traditional Day of the Dead altar at the National Arts Centre.
Join us for an evening celebrating and honoring loved ones who have passed, while exploring one of Mexico’s most cherished cultural traditions. Recognized as an official day in Ottawa and Gatineau, Day of the Dead is a vibrant celebration of memory, community, and remembrance.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the evening will feature:
A guided tour of the monumental Day of the Dead altar
A marketplace featuring Mexican arts and crafts;
An all-ages workshop led by artist Ricardo Rodríguez.
Come discover the rich traditions, artistry, and cultural significance of Day of the Dead through this unique and family-friendly experience.
