Join us for an enchanting “Light at Night” kayaking experience in downtown Ottawa. This 2.5 hour, 5.5km paddle along the Rideau Canal offers a perfect blend of history, scenic beauty, and camaraderie. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced paddler, this leisurely-paced tour is an excellent opportunity to meet other paddling enthusiasts while exploring one of Ottawa’s most iconic waterways.
Hop in one of our Oru folding kayaks and enjoy the serene waterway, surrounded by the enchanting glow of LED lights adorning your boat! The lights create a spectacle of colours that dance along the canal’s surface!
Your adventure begins at Patterson Creek, where you will be introduced to your folding kayak. As you set off at dusk, the sun will start to set, casting a beautiful glow over the canal. This is the perfect time to capture some stunning sunset photos.
As you paddle north along the canal, you will pass beneath the historic Pretoria Bridge and the trendy Corktown Footbridge. Along the way, you will learn about the rich history of the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and some of the historic buildings and bridges you will encounter. Notable landmarks include the University of Ottawa, the National Arts Centre, and the Shaw Centre. You will also catch glimpses of the majestic Chateau Laurier and the iconic Peace Tower at Parliament.
The highlight of the evening is the LED lights on your kayak creating mesmerizing reflections on the water, making the canal come alive with colour! This magical atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing and unforgettable evening on the water. Plus, it’s the perfect date night idea for both young and old couples alike!
