Distinguished Australian choreographer Stephanie Lake’s latest work is an explosive ode to optimism that drives the audience to its feet. Inspired by the opulence of Old Hollywood and the stirring the stirring, primal quality of rhythm, Manifesto’s percussive power is infectious. Dancers and drummers from a range of backgrounds—from contemporary and ballet to salsa and hip hop, from jazz and metal to classical and experimental—vie to see who can unleash more joy on stage.
Known for her ingenuity at creating thrilling works for large groups of dancers, Lake has become one of Australia’s most exciting and popular choreographers of the last decade. Her distinctive movement style blends precision and wild abandon, often driven by the organic spontaneity and breadth of experience of the dancers.
With her partner, experimental music composer Robin Fox, and a superb design team, Stephanie Lake has created in Manifesto a celebratory jolt of pure energy.
