Events Description
Nick Schofield is a Gatineau-based musician, producer and ambassador of ambient music. With a signature hopeful essence that unites his sonic aesthetic, Nick has been dubbed a “dazzling electronic artist” by Aquarium Drunkard and “synth maven” by Constellation Records, receiving press from Bandcamp Daily, the Guardian and BBC. Nick actively performs, and has played at National Sawdust in New York City, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and MUTEK in Montreal, opening for acclaimed artists Sarah Davachi, SUUNS, Hauschka and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. Nick has a BFA in Electroacoustic Studies from Concordia University in Montreal and currently works as the technical director with artist-run centre SAW and Debaser’s Pique festival in Ottawa.
Blue Hour marks synthesist Nick Schofield’s first foray into ambient jazz. Created as an ambient ode to Miles Davis’ In A Silent Way, Blue Hour features the intuitive and totally improvised trumpet playing of Scott Bevins (No Cosmos) and introduces Schofield’s childhood instrument, drums, to his ambient-electronic practice. For this concert, Nick Schofield (drums, synthesiser) will recreate his Blue Hour album with Scott Bevins (trumpet) and Yolande Laroche (keyboards).
