No Codes is a jazz collective formed by four musicians and composers: Benjamin Deschamps (alto saxophone), Frank Lozano (tenor saxophone), Sébastien Pellerin (double bass) and Louis-Vincent Hamel (drums). The group stands out for the absence of a harmonic instrument and for the emphasis placed on improvisation, interaction, and dialogue between the musicians.
Following the success of their self-titled debut album released in 2018, the group is back in full force with Usual Suspects, launched in November 2024 under the Sunset Hill Music label. With this new release, No Codes offers bold and refreshing jazz, blending bebop, free jazz, contemporary music, classical influences, world music, and even punk/metal energy.
No Codes celebrated the release of Usual Suspects with a cross-Canada tour, further establishing its reputation as one of the most distinctive and creative ensembles on today’s jazz scene.
